My Coast to Coast Challenge for Sands
Problem
Sands operate throughout the UK, supporting anyone affected by the death of a baby, working to improve the care bereaved parents receive, they also promote research to reduce the loss of babies’ lives. There are more than 3500 stillbirths each year in the UK alone, and so many people aren’t aware of how popular it is. Unless it affects someone you know, you aren’t aware of how serious the issue is.
Solution
To advertise the charity and what they do, become aware to the targeted audience. To use a charity bike ride as a campaign to spread the word of Sands over social media to people who may not have heard of them before, and to raise money for the charity. I have registered a charity bike ride with Sands and JustGiving to raise more awareness and funds for Sands by promoting the event on social networks such as Facebook and Twitter.
A campaign to raise awareness for Sands (Stillbirth and neonatal death charity). Sands operate throughout the UK, supporting anyone affected by the death of a baby, working to improve the care bereaved parents receive, they also promote research to reduce the loss of babies’ lives.
The reason why I'm fundraising for Sands is because they have affected me personally and I've seen the work they can do. Then I became aware of the surprising amount of stillbirths in the UK every year. More than 3,500 babies are stillborn in the UK each year, and 60% of those are preventable.
I registered a charity bike ride where I’ll be cycling 220 miles from Llandudno, North Wales on the 19th March 2016 and plan to reach Barry, South Wales within 3 days.
After uploading this introduction video onto Facebook, the amount raised on the JustGiving fundraising page had gone from £128 to £500 within 2 weeks.
Over the 3 days of cycling, another £155 was raised. Then 3 weeks after the ride finished, we had raised over £1000!
